Shake It Off . . . churning our butter!

Making Butter

Today we made butter. Long ago before supermarkets, people made their own butter from cow's milk. They poured the cream into a big barrel and with a long wooden pole they mixed and mixed. This was called churning the butter. First we put the cream in the jars and then we shook the jar until it was a big blob of butter. We shook the jars to music (Shake it out by Taylor Swift). Some buttermilk came out of the butter. We spread the butter on bread and made fairy bread. We had so much fun!

3D Shapes

For mathematics we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes.  Yesterday we made different 3D shapes using toothpicks and plasticine.  We now want to try making them with mini marshmallows . . . . yum!  We found out lots about faces, edges and vertices of 3D shapes by completing this activity.
